I Ride: 2001 Ducati 996 S
[QUOTE=Sherpa23;297280]

As time goes on I suspect people will start to understand more and more what an incredibly epic bike this is. Over time, the V4's that were unveiled will become just another nice Ducati while bikes like the two Superleggeras will become more and more legendary.

It boggles my mind that some people currently don't seem to appreciate how special and magnificent the SLs are. The 1299 SL was being poo poohed by a number of people on this forum when it was introduced!!
Along with the 888SPS the SLs are far and away the most impressive bikes Ducati have ever offered for sale to the public. Can't believe it would take ten years to understand how special they are!

I feel the lack of weight everywhere, even just pushing it around the garage.

In fact, I hope that the V4 pushes 1299SL prices down to sub $50k for a low mileage one because I'll add one of those, too. I won't replace my 1199SL with it but the two would go together (and the V4 SL when they eventually build that).
I agree about the weight aspect. I loved the 1199SL but cannot afford one. The 1299SL would have been awesome too but just way too much money for me.

So that is why I am putting so much effort into taking weight off my "old" 1199S. I know it will still be just another 1199S and I will never get back the money etc, but I will never sell it so will not have to take the hit. I cannot weight (pun intended) to feel the difference when I finally get time to add all my lighter stuff.

When I purchased my K1300S, I could not believe the difference in just trying to push it around the garage. Seems like it weighs a an imperial ton.

So will probably never have an SL but I think I will have something as light.

And if I had the chance I would go for the 1299SL over the V4. That is until the V4 SL comes out.
Thanks from jock39racer and Sherpa23

Hahahhahaaa.....this question....oh man. Seriously??
How is a run of the mill Duc v4 even on par with their greatest v2 custom build weighing less than the WSBK bikes with more performance? I've got another question...A 2017 Maclaren 570GT or a 2018 Hyundai Sonata? ...asking for a friend.

True story..... my buddies sisters cousins next door neighbor works with the brother of the head R&D tech at Ducati. He snuck out this pic of the 2020 Oval piston Panigale. It's been Dub'd the O.P.P project.

Yah, yah.. I'm with you totally.. I've two SL's.. one for the road, for meet ups, cruising etc and one I've had race prepped for track..Totally solid. I'm thinking I might 'add' a few more to my line up as I've got several properties, like in the South of France, Dubai and Italy, etc etc and it's kind of a bummer not having a ride at these locations, only got the Ferrari's and the Lambo's there oh, and my new Chiron which I just 'added' like that's sick.. but not the same..
