1299 R FE Race Exhaust Install

Okay, Guys and Gals,

I took on the install myself this past Sunday. While I consider myself highly mechanically inclined and a proficient weekend mechanic, this install is not for the faint-hearted. Similar to a full Termi or Akro install on a Panigale where both left and right side fairings, tank and rear subframe should/need to be removed. So have enough room in your work area to safely place the other half of your bike. A bike stand is recommended or at least a rear stand to keep the bike upright. Most of the hardware will need to be reused from the stock 1299 R FE exhaust, except the manifold mounting nuts. This means rubber bushings, mounting hardware, manifold gaskets, etc. I nearly have the bike put back together minus a few bits here and there. Install took me a good 8hrs in taking my time and resecuring wiring, checking torque settings and using loctite where required. The exhaust is nearly identical (from pics I have seen) to the 1299 Superleggera race exhaust. The difference seems to be the belly pan, how it mounts, strategically placed indents in the collector pipe to clear the rear tire and side stand and the exit pipes having a half-moon shape ramp at the exhaust exit. There is an Up-Map that is included, but it seems to be a dealer only install. I will be taking the bike to the dealer for them to install the Up-Map later this week.

Thanks from Phl, KMY, SuperDuc29 and 4 others

I'm waiting as well. No updates from my dealer as of last week.

Not sure. I would have expected that everyone that ordered one has gotten it or will be very soon. My dealer called me late last year (Nov I think) and asked if I wanted one for my FE. Of course, I said yes and was hounding him about every two weeks before it arrived. Then the end of Feb, the Ducati rep called the dealer and said it shipped. It was at the dealer the following week.

I do not, but your dealer should be able to help you out.

Thanks for this, any more pics would be welcome.
Do the cans on the SL have that restictor / half moon shape?

Looking forward to hearing your feedback once it’s completed.

Most anything is better than the whisper sound it had before with the colostomy bag. A definite improvement. It does sound different than my 1199R with the full Termi system. More like a race-prepped bike.

From the pictures I have seen of the SL race exhaust, the exhaust tips do not have the half moon shapes installed. I wouldn't say they are restrictors. More like defusers to help point the exhaust flow more vertical upon exit. Attached is a picture of the FE race exhaust I found online.
