I Ride: '16 Pani R, 1098R Bayliss, KTM1090R.
I'm on my second pani R. First one was road and track mix and had about 6000 miles
on it when it was changed out. No noticeable oil consumption throughout ownership.

The second has been a dedicated track bike since the run in was completed (23 track days + 2 dyno days last year alone) and is now going into its third season. Have been doing the winter servicing etc and as normal, the oil was clean when dumped and there was nothing on the magnet. Airbox was bone dry as ever. Oil top up last season was less than 200ml outside of three full oil changes. Mileage is around 4.5k.

I guess that it could "let go" at any point, but up to now I don't see my engines being more fragile than any other bikes I have ran in the past.

Guys, it might be a silly question but what oil level are you running? None of the Panigales like it above the half way window point if being tracked and the R engines are better kept at the low point. I've had oil push through seals on both my old S and R and a few friends bikes because of this and they are perfectly fine once the level is dropped.

Below half way. Even at bottom of window it will blow oil up into airbox. Maybe changing oil brand and/or viscosity would help??

They are not

it is not the oil level....its the rings/sleeves/piston - obviously topped up oil will blow out more for sure....but lower levels, if it blows out thru the airbox, is not the answer

oil type/viscosity truly has nothing to do with it - ask your shop to call in to Ducati NA

If you're having the same issue (oil in airbox draining out thru the drain tube)...have your dealer call Ducati NA

What's the internal difference between 15/16 R and 1199SL engine?
