I read Jay Leno's take on what is collectible that can worth $$$.

He said, something that is beautiful to look at, technology (innovation, unique, new), and fun to drive (I guess in our case, fun to ride).

for me, and i'm sure many others, riding them seems to work pretty good - be it racing, track days, or street riding.... its all good - just looking at them is fun too....usually on cold winter evenings here in the NY area, some scuderia time works real well for good mental health

but not all are collectible some are but not everything.

his F1, Miura etc are all collectible the modern stuff is just stuff he likes to have because he can and flips when and how he wants don't get me wrong they are cool but a 991 turbo is not in the same league as a 73 RS and never will be.

So back to bikes and the anniversary falls into this category and while a cool bike they are two a penny i can go out tomorrow and locate 20 for sale in the US alone there is nothing desirable about it it's not even worth a taking a punt on it as it will be 15k in 3 years time. A super mono or a 888sp5 now thats collectible and people will pay a premium to buy one until the market crashes again but when that happens it will once again appreciate the other bikes just end up being cool bikes but not really worth anything in the grand scheme of things.

Yes have to agree but I do love the Anniversary it's a sweet bike.

But a little like the 996sps Pista I sold.

Guy who bought my 1200 multi saw it in the lounge room when doing the paperwork and had to have it, Both my wife and his rolled their eyes but he went home with it after negations.

Numbered top triple, Tri Colore paint, last of the 996's and only a couple of hundred world wide. Really only worth a bit more for the paint job.

Sad but true, seems to be the latest and greatest rather than limited model variation classics that get the nod from the masses.

996 etc weren't the FINAL Ducati twin superbike, the 1299 is - that makes it unique and the FE will no doubt have some collector value.

hahaha Tamburini vs the Fabbro team your joking right?

I have an 1199 because I love it and think it has better ride-ability than a 996 but collectability of an FE? My friend thinks his 998FE will be worth a fortune but I have a dig and tell him it just was a test bed for a 999 engine

These final edition or specially painted models are lovely things but 'collector value' I'm not so sure unless it's a 0 mile and is needed to fit into to someones collection.

Referring to 1299FE, yes I think it will be collectible (low mileage, stock)
