1299 Base Rear Shock Spring Rate

I tried looking around the forum but couldn't find any info on the spring rate based on rider weight for the standard 1299. I found info on the spring rate for the Ohlins setup but not the base. Im about 205-215lbs with gear, (working out dropping lbs) and was wondering if i need to replace the spring. I am also considering installing a Ohlins TTX. Any insight?

While you can certainly guess, you wonít know if you need to replace the spring until you try to set the sag. If you canít get the rear in the box then you need a new spring.

These bikes work on a lighter rate spring than you would expect from a conventional set up .
I always try and set up a base measurement and go from there and see what actually works .

My Sag was set and it seemed to ride fine. I made a small few adjustment from track to track.

1299 Base Rear Shock Spring Rate

I just set my sag today. Iím probably 195/200 with gear and Front/Rear was 42/20. Now that Iíve set it I realize it was unstable at high speed and turn in was kinda quick.

Now itís 35/26 holy crap it is so much better.

Assuming the setting was stock, I donít know if the shock is stiff or not but 20 mm of sag made for a rough ride. When I get the right stand Iím going to flip the F to P soften it up a little more.
