1299 magnesium clutch case on 899

Will it fit? I'm assuming it's the same as the 1199. Thanks for any input!

Also what kind of weight savings are we talking?

Reminds me of a YouTube video from the boys at 44th.

Unsure if it's a 1299 or 1199 clutch case but either way, looks like it's quite an involved process.

Hope that helps.

Yeah Its a interesting job. the cover itself isnt to bad, just pain to remove a number of components to get access to all the cover.
I installed a 1199 covers and did notice a little more noise over the 899 cover.

I also swap out the 899 clutch for a 1299 OEM slipper assy. at same time.
Got caught out by the spring loaded drive gear........

It doesn't look to bad. I plan on replacing the water pump with a seal im having a manufacture (SKF) make for me out of a viton compound if everything works out between me and them, along with a yoyodyne slipper. IF the seal works I'm going to see if there is an interest to fix the coolant weep everybody seems to experience, (including myself) and I will have a bunch made up to sell at cost. Also going to put in the ceramic bearing shift deal. Thanks for the info lots of people have gave me an IDK about the 1299 to 899 cover. I'll go ahead and order one. I'm not sure on the weight savings, don't really care to be honest. I just don't want to pull the side off every time to change clutch plates and adjust a slipper clutch. Plus when I went down at the track my stock one is banged up pretty bad so I need it, Might as well get the better one.

The part numbers are different but it looks identical to an 1199. All the bolts, seals and what not are exactly the same between the two covers

The 1299 has alot more strengthening in the casting. The 959 is same casting as 1299 mag. but in ali.

Well that should be a plus, I think it has more of a sound dampening effect too, or I thought I read that somewhere. I ordered one so we'll see if it fits. I'll update when i get it on.
