'15+ Panigale R Owners - Oil Consumption

Ducati considers 300ml / 600 miles acceptable.
I'm using 3 X as much at the moment: ~ 300ml /200 miles.

- Bike is always ridden hard in Race mode
- Just over 4K miles on the clock
- Always fill to the 1/2 mark (if I filled it any less, I'd have to carry a bottle of oil on me on any given canyon run)

Oil consumption appears to be excessive. No other issues with the bike, in fact it's been perfect.

Worth a trip to the dealer or leave it alone?

Thanks Gents.

They run the two ring piston set up so always will be an issue and use oil but it does sound like a lot .
Either live with it or take it to have new pistons and rings and possibly new sleeves fitted is the only solution .
Are you getting oil in the air box ?

Yeah, was aware these pistons burn oil, though my consumption is excessive. Haven't checked the air box, however I haven't experienced any drainage or leaks so it can't be pooling up too bad in there, if at all - I'll dig in regardless.

I can live with it if it doesn't escalate. I do have an extended warranty through '21. I'll let the dealer investigate.

Yep if you still have warranty hit them up and see what they say . It is a known issue so it will not be a surprise to them
