Bridgestone R11 and the others

Iíve been trying DOT race tires instead of slicks on my 1299 for track days. Iím not looking for all out performance but better value from my track tires. Iíve run Dunlop GPA med+ compound and found them to stick well and last about 1 1/2 days. Michelin Evo last about the same distance. Iíve used the Bridgestone slicks in the past and found they had better edge grip than the Pirelli. But I havenít tried the r10 or R11. The R11 are getting good reviews, but I havenít seen any comparisons. Has anyone tried the r11 and have experience with either the Dunlop or Michelin DOTs? How would you compare them?

would love to hear if anyone has experience with the Q4.... The Pirelli superbike ones were pretty awesome.. but they are discontinued.

I just got Q4s on my CBR600 but have only done one track day on them so far. Grip was outstanding all around and seemed comparable to the Supercorsas . . . but I don't think my pace is fast enough to notice differences at that level. Trying to decide whether to put a set on my 1199 or stay with SCs.

How do you go from a slick to a street tire? No criticism, just trying to understand. There is no comparison in grip. Why not a DOT race tire?

R11 is a Dot race tire not a street tire.

I Ride: V4S and Ninja 400. Dichotomy.
The R11 is an awesome tire, I raced the whole last half of the season on it, and we have a lot of riders on Panigales running that tire at our track days. Grip level compared to Supercorsa SC's is similar, I'd put outright grip at the very edge of the tire slightly down compared to the SC's but just barely, or more precisely I'd say they move around a bit more not that they lose grip in a scary way. Tire life has been much better with the R11's, which is why I ran them, was getting tired of burning through the Pirellis. I ran the same lap times on the R11's as I did on the Pirellis, that's pretty much the whole deal right there. They don't make it in a 200/60 though, only a 200/55 so you need to make sure you do the tire recalibration procedure if you switch to that so your DTC still works correctly.

Value is my main concern. I’m not chasing the fastest lap or anything, just want to be able to put in fast laps and get some life out of a tire. I don’t have any more days on the calendar this year but I may try and squeeze one more in. After that I might give the stones a try.
