I used to love coming around guys on slicks with my Rosso 2's (not corsas). I have Rosso 3's on my bike now and put about 1k miles on them and they are great too. Haven't done a trackday on them yet.
Also depends on riding style and speed. If you're fast, but not a smooth rider in the corners and hard on the throttle out of corners, the 1299 has enough torque to tear some serious chunks out of the more streety tires. Even more so if your tire pressure isn't just right. Other than that, sure, Rosso Corsa 2 is perfectly good enough to

I prefer the rosso corsa 2ís over supercorsas. Supercorsas are a nightmare in the wet.

Just picked up RC2 and I noticed an immediate difference. They turn in slightly slower, but they are much more stable when leaned over. I can measure my line easier with the RC2ís. Itís actually a noticeable difference and the front end doesnít feel as vague as with the SP2ís. For the street I would say this is a much better tire. The SP2 are probably better in the track when you need to quickly change directions, but on the street when long sweepers dominate the roads I think RC2ís are probably better.

I put on a set of 200/60 V3's on my 1299 and they were awesome. Tip in was great, excellent grip etc but the downside was 1700k's of street only and they were toast. Cant live with that with the k's I do (10,000 in the last 6 months) so Ive gone to RC2's. First impressions are not quite as flickable as the V3 but meh... hardly noticeable . Grip is excellent with good feedback at the limit. To be honest if I had an unlimited budget for bike toys, it would be V3's but realistically the difference is in my head and Pirellis marketing department! RC2's are the same for fast road riding. Next time I might try a set of power RS's as the local bike shop says a lot of clubbies use them as intermediates and they are a lot cheaper.

For the street, Iíll not go back to SPís. My bike feels so much better and more planted in the turns. I didnít go with the 200/60 by accident (forgot to ask for the 60) and I probably wonít next time. The taller 60 will speed up turn in (with my current set up) and I like how the CRIIís 55ís turn in is a bit slower over my SP2ís. No need to speed it up again with a 60 series tire.
