No worries...the sub frame is bolted to the rear cylinder and its no wonder it gets very hot. I also wear protective jeans no matter how hot the weather is; road rash is no fun.

I wish I could fix the blow dryer type heat issue in this bike, but I do not think itís possible. Anything above 80 degrees and I think twice before I ride.

The carbon fiber subframe covers are an absolutely must. Prior to getting them the subframe was too hot to grip the tank with my legs.

I think heat comes off the rear cylinder and heats the seat and subframe. That heat has nowhere to go and bleeds through areas around the legs. I think if there where two exhaust vents in the bottom on the rear cowl that might help. Who knows, when I get the chance I will test this theory.

I think you also have missed the fact the Panigale has an AIS system used to heat up the Cats on the standard bike. By fitting blanking plates to the AIS ( smog plates) you reduce the extra heat /combustion in the manifolds.
i have these on my 1199 and its doesn't seem to feel so hot sitting on the bike now.

AIS injects air into the exhaust so the unburnt fuel can ignite, doesn't make it hotter.

Its generally removed for better dyno mapping

[QUOTE=Halo2;336743]AIS injects air into the exhaust so the unburnt fuel can ignite, doesn't make it hotter.

the reason the unburnt fuel is ignited is 2 fold, one to preheat the CATS and second to reduce the hydrocarbons prior to the catalyst. if i'm not mistaken this will add temperature to the exhaust manifold, and therefor radiate this heat out via conduction and radiation as there is no water jacket to absorb it..

only my opinion though and happy to be proved wrong

I Ride: 1299R Final Edition
All i know is when i added the race exhaust to my 1299R FE, which removes the cat, it was even hotter.

I donít understand why people get so upset over questions, I personally find it a bit confusing to find the exact information Iím looking for, so why not ask a question, we donít all have brand new bikes and well maybe after years of people dealing with this issue, someone found a solution and didnít post it on an older thread and may be willing to share some insight as to how they went about addressing the issue since it was just brought up, whenever I do ask questions on an older thread, I get the ďwhy are we bringing this back to lifeĒ comment. Seems that unless itís a question about a newer model some people arenít happy. Well Iíll get off my soap box and thanks to everyone for the information and suggestions.
