899 Panigale Single Sided Swingarm Conversion

Have been looking into this pretty seriously, and have been searching the web to see if anyone's done the 1199 to 899 single sided swingarm swap. (before the comments of "just buy an 1199" they're actually quite different, I want to keep my 899, however with the SSA. (which IMO it should have launched with)

I'm interested to know if they will bolt on, or whether any actual mod will be required ? Whether or not the master cylinder will need to changed, if the ABS will be affect, how it will affect the handling, and whether the narrower rear tire on the 899 can be kept, or if the 1199 wheel needs to go with the 1199 SSA. (lot's of questions...)

Yes. To many to make it worth the time.

It is not worth it.

At this time your best bet is to buy a blown 1199 and then see if you could use your motor to swap out the busted 1199. The reality is that if there was a blown motor it would be fixed under warranty, or be on a wrecked race bike.

And your motor may or may not even be able to make the swap due to mounting bracket locations.

In the for sale section is a gentlemen from Sacramento selling parts cheap you might be able to use for a conversion, again buying a 1199 would be cheaper.

outhouse is correct. I was going to do the conversion myself and it was going to run quite a bit. Just throw performance parts on your 899 if you don't want an 1199. The dssa is not that bad really. I never had a bike with a sssa so it doesn't bother me at all.

I wouldn't do either. It's mainly a bling mod, a very nice bling. But still bling.

There is a guy parting out his 1199 in the FS section.

I believe the swing arm on the 1199 is longer. You'll lose some of the nimbleness of the 899 in the process.

If you reallly want the sssa and can't afford the 1199 base just go with an evo 848. Still a great bike and you'll have your sssa. seen a few here in fl for sale with low miles and great pricing.

1199 Swing arm is $2500 ish new from Ducati....seems to me to be a total waste of time and effort.... Buy a 1199 or 848 as stated... You are on a hiding to nothing...

Thanks for the feedback guys. Have the 899 already, didn't want the 1199 just to ride it in wet mode for 80 % of the time. If you've ridden the 1199 you'll know it's way more sensitive on the throttle and basically less fun for me having to focus on managing the extra power.
I've found 1199 swingarm's used online for roughly 1,000 complete with hub, brake, mounting parts etc. Not sure if I'd need a new master cylinder or whether I could use the existing one ? How much the handling will be affecting, and more importantly if the parts simply bolt-on or not. I'm sure someone sooner or later will do it, hoping not to be the guinea pig.
