Ducati Panigale 899 tank and fairing grips R&G

Hi Guys,

I thought iíd go ahead and share my experience with the R&G tank grip installation on my 899. Unfortunately the first time around didnít turn out as i was expecting since they started to peel off overnight due to the aggressive curvature of the Panigale tank.

All instructions for the install had been followed through from A-Z clean/prep/ pre-heat however this was still the outcome.

Luckily, Tony from R&G was a big help and took care of this issue for me no questions asked. The people at R&G stood behind their product and were great to deal with. Iíd definitely deal with them again.

Does anyone have any standard practice to install these things. I have a brand new set and donít feel like putting it to waste again since i love the low profile thickness compared to all the other brand on the market.

Any help or input is kindly appreciated,

Lou

I have never applied those myself but I would assume that you would apply heat to it after the initial application esp in he spots where it is coming up. Heat and smooth out with hand, really get that adhesive and pad extra pliable.. JM2c

Did you try to heat the tank and the pads just before install. Heat gun or hair dryer will do the trick.

Yup, tried all that... heated up the tank, heated up the pad, used heat along with a teflon roller to flatten the pad down and nothing. They still bubble up.

What is the ambient temperature inside your garage? Isn't Montreal in the 20's this time of year? Perhaps wait until it's warmer?
