Coolant leak - pics are attached

I was doing an oil change on my 899 and realized coolant leaking out of this hole. It looks like itís a plug. Pic is taken from left side and left upper fairing is removed.

Can anyone provide any input? Did the sealant on the threads just go bad?

The legendary Panigale coolant weep hole leak? Failing water pump is the cause. Some have it fixed, other deal with it unless it becomes severe.

Help Diagnosing a Coolant Leak?

thats exactly it. I didnt expect that to be the 'weep' hole.

I did a coolant flush and plugged it with some durable teflon tape. Any harm in that?

I would consult a technician about it, but I believe that hole must remain open to prevent fluid buildup where it does not belong.

It really depends on who you talk to, which is troubling.

I had my Panigale 959 water pump replaced under warranty, Ducati approved, when the weep hole started weeping. After replacement, it stopped weeping.

Others claim a little weeping is normal.

I would not plug that hole. Ask your factory trained service guy.
