New Addition to the Garage

I took my girlfriend's 2009 ER6N to the dealer the other week and rode back home on a 2012 Monster 796. She has wanted a Monster for quite some time so I thought I'd surprise her. See ya Kawasaki, she's in the Ducati family now!

Congrats, gotta love the M796. We just traded my wife's Kawi 250 in for a 20th anniversary m796. Welcome her to the family
Thanks from Theefiveoh

I really miss my monster. You guys gotta stop posting monster pics so I don't accidentally buy one and get in trouble. Same goes for you multi and hyper guys.

I still like the look of those Monster's. Nice bike!

So, last weekend I took my Harley to the dealer, bought a Pikes Peak and came home with Kawi 250 for my wife. Of course, as soon as we walked in she gravitated towards the M1100 and the salesman was trying to say it's an okay bike for beginners. She's 5'4" and never ridden...

Yeah, salesmen will tell you anything to sell you a bike. The only reason why she had the ER6N was because she is only 5'1"ish. I already got her the low seat, lowered the forks in the triple clamp and have a clevis from the 696 on it's way.

She can touch the balls of her feet on the 696, but the 796 she can only tip toe. Putting the clevis from the 696 on the 796 will bring it down to the height of the 696. The 1100 was just way too tall for her. We are already stretching it with the 796.

I figure the M696 will likely be her next bike if she likes riding and I'm pretty sure she will. The days of,"Honey I'm going for a ride see you later" are gone!

Anyway, thats good info on how to lower the bike, thanks. She's the same and can touch the balls of her feet when she sits on the 696, but I'd like to get it maybe an inch lower.

Ya most dealers will say whatever you want to hear, my wife was the same way with the 696 and 796. On the balls of her feet the the 696 and her tiptoes on the 796, after we got the 796 she said she was comfier, probably because the shock broke in and maybe since it was hers and not the dealers she wasn't as afraid( her words)

That is exactly how my girlfriend felt. She was nervous with the test-ride bike, but much more comfortable once she had her own.

The Monster is a great bike. My wife has never ridden and she wants to. She thought a Monster would be a great bike in a few years. Ended up getting her a Ninja 300 w/ABS. Just waiting for it to come in and the winter to go away.
Thanks for the info on the 796 height adjustment. She already informed me that a Ducati is her next bike.
