A lot of the FJR boys are moving over to the super tenere. They recon it handles a lot better than the FJR, and has more reliability than the GS. Pillion on is pretty good.

Went for a 200 mile blast on the PP on Thursday night, in sport mode it was amazing. I actually think I can ride it quicker than the 1199. That probably highlights my lack of riding skill more than the bike but even though the motor is still tight, it pulls like hell in the midrange which makes it so easy to hussle along at a high rate of knots.

It's a real confidence inspiring bike, I can see how people have seen multi riders chasing down super bike riders, it's a beast.

It will be interesting to get back on the 1199 now, as leaning the PP over so far being so tall definitely gives you confidence, I'll see if it transfers.

Other PP news, it's way too quiet. I have got a Leo Vince de cat pipe here ready to go on, hopefully it will make it sound better without being too loud as it has a baffle in it. I'll wait for the first service to get it out on. Job looks like a pig to do, removal and refit of the actuator for the flap being the bit that puts me off doing it myself. This option keeps the stubby Termi pipe that looks great.

On that note followed my mate on his new R1200GS what a great sounding bike that is with the stock exhaust.

Agreed . I have a Pikes Peak and it's a different bike with full system absolutely transformed that motor .

+1 for full system, power wheelies in 3rd. The other day I needed to do a quick run for two six-packs. Threw the top box on and went to supermarket. On way home there's an overpass with no cameras about 1k from a traffic light so if you time the light correctly you get a free run with no traffic.

Kept front up into second and then let it down, cruised in 3rd and then gunned it in 4th when I hit the overpass, probably doing 150 or 160kmh and up comes the front in 4th . Never ever had so much fun with a "grocery" bike.

Belated congrats on the PP Andy .... I somehow missed this thread and the pics

It does look amazing and is a proper looker.

I had an 1150GS in Pacific Blue/White with all black engine, that was pretty enough. Hated the gearbox, which was just so slow and heavy. Performance was OK, but nothing like the MS by the sounds of things.

You found an excellent solution to ease the fitting/removal of 1199 pillion pegs

the center stand is a must when the bike is fully loader, side stand will get the bike to tip over a full load (i don't mean a pair underwear, i mean gear for 2 week cross country )the side bag are too small, get the lit upgrade like the granturismo, the full system is ok but the map is crap your bike is going to be popping all the time , change the wind screen the dp is very good. that is why the touring is the best model for the multi, heating grip, center stand, side bag,and ohlins electronic, the pp is just look cool but if you want the bike to do 1000 miles a day for iron butt or you want to do a cross county trip the pp is not the bike.
