Buell wrecks following my 1198

Out riding our amazing back roads in Cole Camp MO, my buddy following me on my 1198 fails to commit to a bend, stands the bike up and go straight into ditch.

Prior to that he had good lines and riding form, I think he got spooked when he came in a little hot on the corner just before and goes a little wide.

Bike and rider a little bruised, but rode home safe :-).

Thanks from Kwak

Prob heating up tires? Or maybe trying to look cool.

Well I am assuming hes trying to warm to the tyres as well... But really..3-5 secs of swerving isn't gonna do anything.. and I think its a dangerous assumption that it would....

You're right, that short a distance wont warm your tires.

Riding out there we get in the habit of doing this to not only warm our tires, but also somewhat clean them of dirt or sand so it becomes a habit.

The reason I stopped after 3 seconds was that it had just rained so, attempting to warm tires like that would be useless lol.

Like I said, becomes habit.

Maybe the dangerous swerving is contributing to the cause of all these accident videos!

when i was just starting out i rode with a very experienced rider and i was following him on a twisty upstate road and i crossed the yellow line a few times trying to keep up. when we pulled over he told me point-blank: "don't ever cross the line-- not because you could get killed, but because you may end up killing someone else." that resonated...

glad your friend's okay.

Glad your bud's OK; a close guardrail there or an oncoming car could have led to a really bad day; seen both happen and neither is good. No offense intended to anyone, but I wouldn't say that was an example of good lines and form. Looked to me like he was turning in too early on just about every corner, which will always run you wide on exit. Really did it badly on the corner before the one he went off on; chucked it in over the center line, picked it up and then nearly went off. Lines were in and out a bit too; most of those corners only had one true apex, but he was getting some extras in.
