848 showing issues again. surging stuttering.

Ok so my wifes 848 is still showing issues. The bike runs smooth while rolling on the throttle, but hesitate/stutters at cinstant throttle. I replaced the following and it improved initially after adding new coils, but the problem is back.

I have replaced:

Fuel filter
chain
front sprocket
rear sprocket
ecu
ignition coils
spark plugs
battery

I have checked

Tps signal voltage and compared to jp diag readout
fuel pump relay
all grounds and connector
kick stand sensor

I have reset tps.

I initially pulled a primary/secondary ignition circuit on coil a fault. Now this is gone. Should i replace the tps next?

Would a bad voltage regulstor cause this?

Could the dp ecu be that out of tune?

I had a similar issue on mine. I'll need to check with my mechanic, but I remember that both the coil and the stater had to be replaced...

No, a lot of the 1199 do it also. I have tried everything. The only thing that helped was putting race gas in it.

Voltage reg was bad. I just replaced it and still have the issue. Stator is testing good.

After replacing the voltage reg is keep pulling the following faults.

Primary/secondary circuit a fault
primary/secondary circuit b fault
throttle position sensor circuit a fault.

This is just a thought...as you seem to have covered most things.
Have you tested the Lambda sensor? Checked its connector?

From what I've read they fail rich, cause surging. Not sure if they fail across the range or work in some areas and not in others/gradually get worse.

It's bizarre that it's pointing you towards coils again and TPS after reset.

You've replaced the ecu (+software) and coils, so to my thoughts it has to be an input (sensor).

Please post the solution when you or Ducati find it. Thanks.

That sucks!

If your running the DP ECU, did you disconnect the O2 sensors an block them off slugs? I wonder if the air idle control valves are causing a problem.

Ok I finally got home from a trip and had time to work on this again.

I replaced the TPS with another one and reset. I also chopped off the old stator wires and replaced them. Then I disconnected the HID ballasts, headlights, and taillights to start inspecting the entire harness.

Still no luck. However, the symptoms are getting narrowed down.

If I warm the engine up in neutral and then hold the throttle steady at increasingly high RPMs the bike will begin backfiring around 7-7.5K. It is very loud pops almost like shooting flames from a pani on decal with a full system.

Also when riding it will blink the CEL randomly as it chugs, but the CEL goes away after you let off throttle.

I am beginning to think the bike is running Lean or Rich in the higher RPMS maybe????

Clogged injector maybe? How many tanks of gas have you run through the bike, just to make sure it's not bad gas? I'd throw some fuel injector cleaner through it for a couple of tanks and see if that improves it. I had a similar series of symptoms on my bike at one time and it was a clogged injector.

We've put a few tanks through it now. I forced it to run the Dragon a couple times...lol
