Lost Key Solutions?

Hey,

I recently lost my only key to my 2015 899 Panigale. What options do I have towards getting a new key? I called the dealership and they want to charge me $5000+ to replace the whole ECU. There has to be another way.

SOS Diagnostics worked for my 848.

Got 2 new keys and the code. Way cheaper than replacing everything the dealership told me would need to be replaced...

go to another ducati dealership they are bullshitting you i lost both my keys on my 1299 within 2 months of having it, had to tow it to the dealership but they just had to remove and install a whole new ignition and trunk set. and that was it set was 600 plus 1.5hr of labor.

Did you still have the code? If so, yeah, a new lock set and learn the new keys to the ECU and you're G2G. If you didn't have the code and they still only changed the lock set is very interesting.

Interesting, because I talked to 3 dealerships on the phone, and 2 more in person, and none of them indicated it would be a ignition/trunk lock set only for the 848. All of them said I needed those things. Some of them said I only needed to replace the gauge cluster, others insisted I needed to replace the gauge cluster AND ECU to the tune of $2500 before labor/tax/etc.

I asked them if they thought that $2500 was ridiculous for a lost key situation, and they just shrug their shoulders and suggest that I buy a wrecked bike and swap parts over. Which would also essentially be odometer fraud.

I can't imagine the anti-theft systems between the 848 era and the 1299 got less sophisticated. So it's very surprising to me that you were able to get by with just a lock set change.

no code, no nothing, simple as replacing the ignition / lock set/ spent less than 800 bucks in Gold Coast Motorsports in long island NY. I'm telling you to shop around bc i got the same bullshit from the Ducati dealer i originally bought the bike trying to charge me 5k to replace the whole thing. I am sorry if this is not the case for your particular bike but as you said doesn't make sense that would work for my 2017 1299 and not a 848.
wish you the best on finding a shop that will do it for you.

Here we go. Round two of "I lost my bike keys, how can I make it run"....

From a one post, joined thirty seconds ago junior member. Notice no one is helping. Wonder why.
