1199 Superleggera racing kit

Have some pics on the kit that comes with the bike.. looks pretty cool. I am guessing the red dongle in the middle of the crate is the DDA/up-map dongle.

I Ride: Shopping for a new track bike...
Red one is the DDA recorder module, the up-map key is a small black one probably burried in the box somewhere. Or it might not even have one, the SL has a completely different ECU so I'm not sure it even uses an up-map key any longer, it might all be done through our DDS system. Probably won't know until the bikes start showing up.

That kit has a HUGE discount on it, as in it's shipping FREE with every Superleggera!

Jarel... I think "free" should be in inverted commas...

Bear with me for sounding like a noob here..

My understanding was that the up-map key was used to unlock the RACING EVO mapping data already present in the ECU through the dash setup menu.

I hear that the SL comes with the up-map but if someone was to put an Akra system on a base/S/R, is the DDS system helpful in getting the right mapping data setup on the ECU. Do dealers use it while running the bike on a dyno when tuning it with Akras?

On the current 1199 Panigale models, the up-map key is used to unlock the performance map already in the ECU. On the 899 Panigale, the up-map key has to be used in conjunction with our DDS system to unlock the maps, it can no longer be done with just the up-map key alone. So I'm not sure on the SL since it's now the newest of the new generation ECU's whether it's going to work the same way or not. I haven't seen any bulletins from Ducati on that yet, it's possible that the SL will not require an up-map key, it might be able to be unlocked with the DDS alone since the bike already comes with the performance exhaust included with it. The only purpose of the up-map key is to control the distribution of the performance map and make sure it's only available to those who purchase the performance exhaust from Ducati.

There is no dyno tuning with that system, the fuel map is already defined by Ducati and hard-coded. The only way to do custom mapping is with aftermarket reflashing of the ECU or a piggy-pack fuel controller like a Power Commander or RapidBike.
Thanks from Gecko
