great bike - no changes from 2015 to 2017 - any bike of this caliber is worth ownership for sure - like your impression of the rsv4, you will be (should be), even more impressed with 2017 1199R's almost 50lb weight difference
i had the 2013...& went to the 2015 as there were changes from that model year range (ducati always offers just enough change to make you want one

)..you get an amped up motor, 2 ring piston design, more titanium(con-rods & both intake and exhaust valves), and some electronic doo-dads....upgraded software, up/down shift, & a nifty lean angle sensor which is hard to keep your eyes off while on your favorite roads....also helps to maintain the bike level when checking your oil
all this goodness comes at a price of course, and if finances permit, it will be a rewarding experience - however, there is no substitute for support, and having a dedicated knowledgeable dealer is important...lacking that you may be opening the door to unneeded frustration as the occasions certainly do arise when they are needed, well past being able to fix things yourself
it is also worth mentioning that the newer upgraded 2 ring piston motor is quite a jewel - it has however been known to push an over filled crankcase contents (aka OIL!) out thru the crankcase breather into the air box and down the drain tube under the bike - not a very nice thing...so a catch bottle of some type is note worthy, as is that ever important dealer support
i'd upgrade to a 2017 myself but the rumored 4cyl is coming, so i hit the pause button for the moment
good luck with your decision....
here is my suggestion:
buy it, ride it...come back and tell us your impression
