Ok guys....would you trade your 1199s AND a 2016 ninja H2 for a 2014 superleggera? Cause logistically that's the only way my finances would allow. The superleggera has long been my dream bike and now it us within reach, but not sure if giving up 2 bikes for it is stupid on my part. I have the fever and am not thinking straight...need help lol

Your collection reflects my tastes more than you know. Hypothetically, would you have given up your 2008 1098R in order to get your SL?

At the time, probably not. Knowing what I know now? In a heartbeat.

I am not a new bike kind of guy. All of the electronics and gizmos and all of that annoy the shit out of me. They also give me anxiety. I am also not an old bike kind of guy. I'm somewhere in that sweet spot with a love affair of fuel injection, proper throttle delivery, real power, strong brakes, serious tires, sophisticated suspension, and endlesss character and heart.

The Superleggera is the newest bike I have and while not new enough to have all of the inertia management unit crap, new enough to have a lot of the other stuff that I'm not fond of. However, the bike is simply pure magic. I have never ridden a better, more magnificent motorcycle. It has gobs of everything you want and not much of that extra stuff you don't. And none of that extra extra stuff that it seems like every bike in 2018 "has to have." Make no mistake, it's newer than I like but I absolutely adore it and every time I ride it, I'm reminded of it. It's seamless magic, plain and simple.

I love every bike I have. They're all related, obviously, but they're all unique. I have them all because I love them each for what they are and I don't own a single bike I don't love. However, if I had to give up every bike except one, I can say unequivocally that the bike that would stay would inevitably be the Superleggera.

I can't say it any more plainly than that. If it's that hard of a decision for someone, don't buy the Superleggera. They don't get it and that's okay. It's not the kind of thing that everyone gets and they're not alone. However, I suspect that in time, people will understand what an incredible machine it was that Ducati delivered in that 1199 Superleggera. I am not joking when I say that I sometimes consider buying a second one.
Thanks from able duc and DucatiTerminator

Sherpa have you had a chance to ride a 1299 R FE?
Would love to hear from someone that has had a good ride on both FE and 1199 SL

Thank you very much for your insight. I don't want to jinx anything, but I'm hoping that I will be able to mirror your sentiment in the very near future.

My dealer has one that theyíre trying like hell to get me to buy. Iíve never ridden one. I am sure itís a incredible bike. I would like to ride one with the new race exhaust and belly pan and see what itís like. It still weighs substantially more than the 1199SL but itís a neat machine for sure.
