Also I'm pretty sure all dealers would require a deposit on the Speciale. Much like the Superleggeras, Ducati needs to see the deposit to allocate the bike. I could be wrong though. I've bought several Ducati's from my dealer and have built a great relationship. My S is on order with them and is the first one on the list, without me putting any deposit down. But when I briefly played with the idea of getting a Speciale, my dealer said they would need 10% down for it.
My newest dealer asked for $500 deposit for the Speciale.

Your first dealer does not want to get stuck with it if you back out. I'm betting state laws prohibit them from keeping the deposit if you back out.

Is everything else a carry over? If so all other bikes will be compared to the V4. It's got a cheater motor and all the new tech. There's no way it does not win most if not all of the tests.

I'm more curious how it compares to the 1299.

There will be plenty of owner reviews the day after it goes on sale. All who bought will claim it's as close to a Superbike they have ever ridden even though they have never ride a real Superbike, or much less been on a track. Lol

My guess, (and I will certainly test ride the damn thing, then again I probably should not cause a causal test ride on the 1299 led me to selling my beloved RSV4), is it's a few pounds heavier, but the counter rotating crank will make the higher CG feel like its lighter. It will sound good, vibrate more than the 1X99, and the tech will be awesome.

Where'd you hear that? That would be highly unlikely, Ducati is going to want to get journalist butts in the seat for this more than any other bike they've ever launched! I know we're not going to Europe for training this year, it's going to be in the U.S. somewhere supposedly, which means there will be a fleet of V4's in country that I'm sure will make their way out to journalists.

A motorsport journalist told me that. I wasn't really in a position to question or argue with him about so I took him at his word (with a grain of salt as I used the word "allegedly").
