I was also impressed with the fact that the bike wasn't roped off up on a stand or anything. It was just right there along with all the rest of the current line up, you could sit on, fondle, inspect up close from every angle, etc. That made me very happy! But the crowds didn't!!

As it should be. Funny I was just talking with my buddy about this today. 2 years ago the h2 was roped off, although its the same price range as the panigales. Last year, the fireblade Sp was roped off, although again its relatively inexpensive. These are all mass production bikes. Especially in vancouver where it seems like every other high school kid is driving a lamborghini/ferrari/Mclaren, I don't see why they rope them off. A motogp bike I can see them doing that, but a mass production bike... I don't see the point.

Ashes, you generalise far too much in saying no one like the V4, how on earth can you say this when you are talking about subjective features of a bike?

Cheers

Just saw it in person for the first time. I absolutely love it. Much better in person. The ergonomics are much improved from the 1x99. Looks gorgeous in my opinion.

Granted, but this IS a thread regarding subjective opinions about the design and looks of the bike...

I said no one liked what they saw of the leaked photos, which was accurate. People either hated it, were hopeful it was just a test mule, or reserved judgement until the official release. Regardless, at that point, fans were the minority if not non existent. I completely agree, looks are subjective, and once the bike was officially unveiled there were parties on both sides of the fence.

Most interesting to me were those that condemned it, then immediately supported it upon its release, despite the production model mirroring the leaked photos perfectly.

no one can possibly like the looks of the v4 when compared directly to its predecessor. if they claim to, they are lying (to themselves) or have no design sense whatsoever.

More like, if you put livery/decals on the V4 (speciale) it actually Bullys all other paint schemes/looks of the previous models. So yeah, people are 100% justified about that.
