I Ride: red 2015 Multistrada
The major part of the heat comes from the exhaust pipes. Exhaust gas temps can reach upwards of 1500 degrees. The cylinder heads get nowhere near that.

On the 1199, 1299 the rear exhaust pipe wraps right underneath the seat and next to the sub-frame that everybody put the carbon fiber covers on. Yes, the cylinder head was also right there, but the exhaust pipes are the culprit for the heat issues.

I have looked at a lot of the pics, and it looks like the exhaust is not as close to the seat or rear sub-frame. The cylinder head is right there on the V-4, but I don't think its going to be as bad. I have a DVT Multistrada and the cylinder head is right under the seat, and the heat is pretty much non-existent.

We will see.

Scary when the gas tank is now right there above the exhaust...

This is one of the problems. The delivery of my bike is delayed with no new delivery date. Dealer said: you will see it when it will be here. This is the answer he gave to my question.

Go buy a 300cc bike. Jesus, it is a super bike. Wear a full leather.
Ridden at the race track with 112 degree with track temp of 150 with Pani Engine Cover Removed. No heat issue. My leather didn’t catch on fire on my legs.

Unreasonable questions warrant similiar responses. The heat issue with the 1199/1299 has been beaten to death. To worry about this issue with a bike that is not available to ride is pure lunacy. Even if it emits heat so what. It hasn't hurt 1299 sales. It won't hurt V4 sales. Ducati is well aware of the heat issue. Let's move on please.

It has hurt sales . I know of several guys who tested them, had their nuts roasted and bought other makes.
Not saying heat is avoidable .
But it has hurt sales. Maybe some of these concerned buyers are those who couldnít accept the v2 roast and have hope itís better now.
And maybe they are just making conversation and shooting the breeze so to say.

But hey, itís just my opinion. And u know what they say about opinions haha.
