No harm done and no offence taken.

Ride safe guys
For what it's worth, I never doubted the veracity of your posts.

The weather wasnít great and the pre delivery checks hadnít been done on the demo bike, but Iíll be test riding Friday if itís okay.

So Iíve been going on about a lot I didnít like, but thereís more that I do like. It was actually growing on me as I was going round it.

So I may have an order in for a V4S to sit along side the R.......... I havenít told the wife yet!!!
That's an interesting development, for sure. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your impressions.

I have yet to see one in person but I do think that I might be a candidate for the R version.

Just make sure you don't park it somewhere that some blind broad would have the chance to tip it over!!

Yeah, I know. I think in a way I didn't want to like it, hands up guilty.

But there's a lot you don't get from pictures and actual differences. The fairings on the pictures, even the official shots, have gaps in the fairings, these now have like small plastic covers in there, you don't see engine casings or coolant hoses through them anymore. There's also additional covers on the sub frame, there's some nice touches in there now, albeit after thoughts, but it's brought it together a bit better.

The big bulbous gas tank is still just that, but when you're sat on it, with it between your legs it feels good, some grip there for when you tip it in. It looks better from the seat, if you're familiar with an MV Agusta Dragster, it feels very much like that.

There is still a lot wrong with this bike in my mind, but like I say, there's a lot right with it. The dash is 100% bang on, I can't fault it. LED daytime running lights are switchable so you can turn them down in intensity level. And it does sound good, different, but good. New clip ons too, a lot neater and machined finish, they don't look like generic parts anymore.

I have renewed faith that the R is going to be amazing.

I knew you'd come around, Mutt.

And Bradoshi, thank you for posting your experience with the bike so far. New members like you are as much an asset to the forum as the old guard, much respect for both. Info like this on the new bike, with enough time spent to get a good feel for it, is golden. Can't wait to get mine in!

Agreed. Bradoshi your posts are the ones that make the wait slightly easier for us. Thank you!

BTW... My stupid little longing question... Would you by happen to know or can find out whether the gas caps on the 1199/1299 would fit the v4? That's the last piece of the puzzle for me with what I need to order. Thanks!

Gas cap looked standard. I can confidently say yes, they are the same. I spent some time looking!

I'm getting mixed answers so seeing since he's the ducati tech at a dealership that's had deliveries if he can confirm. It looks the same, Shift-Tech claims its the same, but completely different part numbers in the ducati system.

May I ask how you're so sure it's the same? Not doubting you, just want to make sure before money leaves my wallet for good.

Cheers mate.

I can only say the same as in with my bike next to a V4, I would say yes, they are the same. Same size lock, keys haven't changed etc. It may be slightly different upon removal? But what I'm seeing is they are the same.

Just saw this, I'm already off work today and won't be in tomorrow so I'll have to check when I get back in. I haven't gotten to spend much time with the V4 and 1299 close enough to confirm but I can't think of seeing anything that made it look different. I'll confirm when I can get a change to look them up.

Self reminder email sent.
Thanks from Nitrouz
