V4S insurance problems - help

Hi there troops: I just got some online quotes for my new bike at £8900 - £9400. I haven't built any no claims despite owning bikes for 30 plus years, I chop and change quite a bit and had some gaps in ownership, current bike (£200) owned for not quite one year and will not quote on the V4S (Carole Nash - Highway). CN have pushed me from pillar to post for hours to no avail and I'm not happy. I've tried loads of companies and just wondered if anyone had any leads in the UK please? If I get it sorted I will update the post with my recommendation if I can get it sorted - thanks in advance, Kev-almost-aV4S-rider 👍

I had the same problem when trying to insure my 1299 when it was first released, and that was with full NCB.

Try Ducati Insurance - they were surprisingly competitive for me but will probably tell you that you need to fit a tracker to the bike.

Try Bemoto. They are Based in Peterborough. I found them to be brilliant. They saved me a bunch. Being myself in a peterbough postcode, its hell on earth for insurance. Some sort of car/Bike theft, crashing hotspot. I was 50 miles north in Lincolnshire but on moving I was quoted and extra £200 to insure my 675 and 1299 by Carole Nash who I’d been with for 10 yrs. Bemoto saved me about 250 quid from what CN quoted who didn’t even try to match it. That 250 then went on my car insurance which went up!

Also mention that you found out about them via the loons at 44 teeth for extra discount goodies.

Am I seeing things? 9,000 GBP for insurance on a motorcycle? With no accident history? You could by a new bike every year (well, not a V4) for that!!! WTF???

I’ve had issues stateside as well. The V4 seems to be causing problems with some insurers’ algorithms. I had one quote from a major insurer at $20,000 a year (no typo - twenty thousand dollars a year). Median quotes were around $6,000. Was able to find two major insurers willing quote me less than $2,000 for $100k/$300k liability, comprehensive and collision.

I didn't shop around, progressive quoted me $1970 for the year on my base model. On my first Panigales '12 and '13 it was initially about the same and the last 2 years dropped to $600+ for the year. That also included bumping my accessory coverage from the free $3000 to $6000 for bike parts and my gear ;-). I'll have to bump it even higher with the full exhaust added.

If I keep my driving record fairly clean the next 2 yrs it should get chopped in half. (and no its not clean right now lol)

Interesting. The $20k quote I received was from Progressive and my record is clean. I blame California.

Rumor has it that they purposely quote bikes high to discourage riders from insuring with them.
