And there is plenty of threads and videos on YouTube on how to adjust the chain.

I agree, but like I just said in my last post the owners manual doesn't tell you how to adjust it. It only gives you a spec.

Yea, but nothing on the V4. I don't have the specialty wrench either that was mentioned by another. I have a smaller spanner wrench I use for the coil overs on my sled, but it's too small and slipped right off.

I shouldn't have to be dealing with this on a $30k bike with 8 miles on the clock. Pisses me off.

do you have any pictures where the chain contacted the swing arm and removed paint?

It's just a nick, but see attached.

I didn't want to ride it anymore as it was with the loose chain so I chose to buy the tool at the local Ducati dealer for $30 and did the adjustment myself. My selling dealer offered to pay the bill since the local dealer wouldn't cover it under warranty but it wasn't worth my time to take the bike in for a $30 tool.

Looks like a stone chip if it was a too loose chain it would have also marked the rubber part/whole area.
Thanks from cavlino

If this is indeed an issue, I'd suggest getting your delivery fees pro-rated. This is part of the PDI and the chain should have the right slack prior to taking her home.

Mine did exactly same . Dealer set slack wrong in pdi . It should be 23-25mm not usual 30-35
Thanks from cavlino and jaycstlo

Warranty claim

Hi I visited a Ducati dealer to check their demo bike . Rub marks on swing arm same place as mine. Obviously an issue for ducati . I will submit a warranty claim. Either Ducati should extend the chain guide or give more clearance. From what I can see even with only a very small variation in chain slack the chain will touch the swing arm . Ducati can't expect owners to check slack during a 200-300 trip but they should design in better tolerances. You would have thought they had learned a lesson with 1299 issue
