I,m just looking for a bit of advice really. I was at the track with the V4 last weekend March 23-24th and it has broken down again, this time with a huge misfire under acceleration rendering it useless yet again. I have had to cancel another track day because it wont be fixed in time

I have had the bike for nearly 3 months now but it has spent 6 weeks of that broken in the Ducati workshop. I have had so many issues with the bike since getting it:

Failing brakes
Engine oil leaks
Broken quick shifter
Leaking brake fluid reservoirs
Constant stalling at idle

I know it is a Ducati and its the first of a new breed so there will be teething problems but its getting ridiculous.

I have emailed Ducati and spoken to them but they don't seem to care.

Can anyone offer any advice or alternative forms of communication that might get a better response?

Damn, been there before so I feel your pain of missing track time. New V4 owners have become beta testers.

Good luck and hopefully your local shop will sort these issues all out. My advice, your day isn't a complete wash given the other horses in the stable. Why not bring those out while the V4 is in the shop?

Sorry to hear it. My response to the "should you be at the track?" question is : you know that these are "RACE" bikes, don't you?

C'mon... we're not a bunch of idiots around here that don't know a reed valve from a choke. Of course they're race bikes, just like my 959, but that doesn't mean I take it to the track just off the showroom floor and put the engine through the ringer.

I have on multiple occasions and they've been the best running/power bikes I've owned.

Understood. And to each their own, but they didnít have a brand new designed engine in them - they had tried and true twins I bet.
Regardless of whether youíre on the street or at the track, if you follow the manuals instructions on break-in is all that matters... no revs above X and no single gear for a long time at the same revs. That allows the internal filtration system to get the metal bits away as designed.

More first year issues than the 1299 it seems - by a significant margin

1299 wasn't a first year bike really.. It was a slight displacement bump to the then current model 1199. Apples/Oranges to a degree.
