Positive feedback from those with a V4?

So I'm tossing and turning trying to decide if I'm going to take the leap and get the V4S, or rather play it safe and get an R1M or S1000RR.

In the forums we tend to hear about the bikes with issues, and it might lead to a skewed perception of how many problems there actually are with a particular model.

Just wondering if there are V4 owners out there who are completely satisfied with their new bikes and haven't had any troubles so far? Would love to hear from you!

My experience till now is simply great. I feel very good with handling and power, and no issues at all. I hope it will go on like that.

I'm glad to hear that. How many miles do you have so far?

Cool! What do you mean by lapping btw?

I see you have some other nice bikes as well. How would you rate the new bike compared to the others?

I'm enjoying mine. No issues in my first 250 miles. Drives like a champ.

I explained my first impressions here at post #48: V4 base

It's a tough decision for sure. I put a deposit on the V4s in December. I got spooked with the fire in Vancouver and decided to purchase a new 2017 1299s instead.

Some might think I over reacted however my experience with a new model Ducati XDiavel had an impact. I gave Ducati $28,000 (before tax and including full termi and some other mods) at end of 2015 season for a 2016 Multistrada 1200s.

During August of 2016 I gave Ducati $29,000 (before tax and including full termi and some other mods). The XDiavel ended up having a serious ergonomic issue resulting in lower back pain, discomfort while riding, for many riders/owners. Ducati tried to make a cruiser but they didn't. If it had a tall first gear it would be a very heavy super naked. They call it a gentleman and a bastard. With the full termi it's actually a mean bastard. That's not a cruiser.

Ducati created a fix quickly with mid controls. Because I had so much invested financially and emotionally in this bike I decided to purchase the mid-controls. The overall cost set me back another $2,000 for the fix.

It's an incredible motorcycle with great character and performance and I can't imagine not keeping it. However it will never be the motorcycle I thought I purchased. The mid-controls require the higher seat to put the rider in a more comfortable position but the higher seat doesn't hold onto the butt and keep you planted therefore the only way to hang on to the bike during acceleration and clutching is via the grips. That's just a shitty deal.

Here's the gripe: Ducati gave the European XDiavel purchasers the mid-controls for FREE. My cost for the mid control purchase, installation and the extra high seat was $2K. That's what you call arbitrarily looking after your customers. Screw Canadians.

I heard Ducati made changes to the rear suspension etc on the 2017 XDiavel.

My advise for purchasing a Ducati is stay away from the new models for a couple of years. If you have unlimited cashflow sure go for the new model out of the gate.

As for me, I'll put 25 to 30,000 kilometers of the 1299s over a couple of years then maybe I'll switch over to the V4.
