1000 mile report (base)

Everyone has seen the reviews on how the bike handles and whatnot, so won't waste your time with that. I hit 1000 miles today, and since I seem to be one of the first in the US to do so, I figured I'd share my experiences, notably the few issues I've had.

Within the first 400 miles, I had the ABS fail to initialize even after getting moving, and the dash was showing graphical glitches. Pulled over, turned the bike off and back on, issue fixed. Hasn't happened again.

Around the same time as the ABS failure, the auto-blipper between 2nd and 1st stopped working. All other gears worked. Cycled power again and it was fixed. Happened again today, I think the root is from turning the bike on while it's in a gear other than 1st or neutral. I did a little bit of testing and I successfully recreated the problem by turning the bike on while it was in 2nd gear.

In the rain, it billows a massive amount of steam from the triple tree area when stopped. Fogs up your visor, glasses if you wear them, and the windscreen. People in cars were freaking out thinking it was on fire.

It stalled once in a parking lot prior to the 600 mile service. Ducati removed the evap canister (it "accidentally" fell off during the service) and the bike runs much, much better.

While not a lot of heat makes it to the rider, the bike does get insanely hot. Any substance that comes into contact with it will burn. I use motul clean and was spray to clean it, if I go riding afterward the smell of the spray burning gets pretty strong. It generally produces a lot of strange smells depending on what comes into contact with it because of how crazy hot it is.

With wheelie control at 4, rolling on the throttle through a corner in 3rd going roughly 90mph still had the front lift before I reached the exit. Luckily, it was close enough to the exit to be more fun than scary. It never runs out of power.

Thanks for the review! It is indeed hot. I was riding around with jeans today and the left side of the front frame was burning the inside of my left knee where they come in contact. But I was going in traffic. On the highway with full gear I don't feel a thing except some gentle warmth.

My first bike stalled once. My second bike now stalled twice in the first 100 miles (160kms). Usually happens when you restart a bike after a ride. The idle just all of a sudden sounds a little low, and that's when it's about to stall. Waiting for ducati to come up with hopefully a software update of what not.

Otherwise, it's an amazing ride for sure.

Did they remove the evap canister? They pretty much nailed that down as the culprit for stalling. My dealership said their V4S demo was doing that and removing the evap solved it entirely.

Evap delete is a no brainer, and has been standard procedure since they were invented/shoved upon us

Get rid of the Cats with a proper breathing exhaust and that should help the heat situation a tad

I am super interested in both of those options so please keep us informed once you're doing it for V4s.
