V4 Speciale (#56) vs Final Edition (#122) - pics

Guys, I was trying my best to wait for the R to come out but took the v4s for a test ride and couldn't resist. #56 will hold me over until the R arrives. Akra exhaust goes on in a couple weeks. Only 20 miles so far but the bike is amazing.

So here's the question - is it better than the FE with the full Akra race exhaust??

The FE with this system is ferocious. There is no other way to put it. Not just the sound, but also how quickly it spools up. It hits MUCH harder than the v4 and candidly harder than anything I've ever experienced. And then there is the sound...

The v4s by comparison sounds docile but is buttery smooth. Power delivery is linear and it pulls like a freight train up in the revs. The bike loves to rev and is very happy in the 8-12K range.

It's not a fair comparison since I'm taking it easy on the v4s and it's really restricted at the moment. However, my sense is that I'll be much quicker on the v4. It's so easy to ride fast. That being said, the FE feels more special. And to me, by a wide margin.

Both are beautiful bikes. Which one is prettier is in the eye of the beholder.

Sorry for all the pics, but wanted to fully capture the similarities and differences for those still trying to decide between the twin and new v4.

Cheers!
Kevin

For me, if I could only have one, it would be the FE by a pretty wide margin now that it has the proper exhaust. The kit is just amazing.

BUT, ask me again in a couple weeks!

FE with a few tasteful mods!
Couldn't believe how people were shocked with the colour scheme, Ducati don't make a mistake often

Good looking pair of Ducati's for sure. You beat me this time. I'm still waiting for my Speciale. Should be next week though. Dealer said the delivery was delayed because of the recall announcement and Ducati is making the necessary updates before the rest of the bikes ship.

David,
Yep, my updates were all done as part of the dealer prep prior to picking up the bike. Thought maybe your speciale would be #55!

Interested in your views as well once you get some seat time. The bikes look similar and clearly related despite how completely different they feel on the road.
