Maybe I'm a little slow or something but, How did you change the oil at 2225 miles if the bike only has 624 miles?
Are you a fellow time traveler? If so we should meet up and compare notes.

you took the bike in before it was due it happens however they can't reset the light before it comes on. so it came on because its programed to do so.

either take the bike in for the reset or monitor the oil level to make sure you dont run low and next time bring it in.

i would take it to them for reset

Why did you change the oil so early? Iím just curious I donít mean to be critical.

I think my light came on at 630 so Iím sure your oil light will turn on soon.

So it needs to be taken to dealer for that, right? And it was now 2nd instance under 6000 kms. It is annoying and would probably cost more than 40 bucks...

Took the bike to Barber Motorsports park right after changing the oil. I don't think its very smart to continue a break in with the original oil on the track. I'm glad I did there was allot of metal (fine) and pieces of gasket material in the oil. This is something I do with all my new bikes. This being my fourth new bike purchase. This was the most material that I have ever seen during the first oil change.
I do not back this procedure up with any objective evidence of a true advantage. I have adopted this procedure from aircraft engines. We run mineral oil for the first 25 hours. then change to what ever the engine manufacturer recommends. The last aircraft engine I broke in went to 50 hours because we had some minor cylinder glazing. Aircraft engines must be run very HARD for the first 25-50 hours to ensure the rings are seated. I think it's odd that auto and motorcycle manufacturers require us to "baby" the machine at first. Hell, I prefer to beat the shit out of it to find problems.

I'm struggling with the confusion here. This is nothing new and you can find it in the manual. They can't reset something that isn't there. Ride it until the light comes on, then take it for first service as intended/manufacturers guidelines.

What oil fill up procedure did you use...there's a special process to do oil change. Is not just drain and fill.

Also, you mentioned metal in the filter? That doesn't sound right.
