Minimum RPM before lugging the engine

The V4 is my first Ducati, I previously rode Hondas with inline 4 engines.

4K seems to be the lowest RPM before lugging the engine, but I'm still somewhat unfamiliar to V engines on bikes. Ducati recommends not exceeding 6K during break-in, which leaves a 4-6K range at the moment.

Anyone else have thoughts?

Loving the Ducati V engine sound and feel!!

Are you sure it's lugging at 4k rpm? My 1098 lugs below 3.5k rpm, is a vtwin, and has a significant different in redline vs the v4, so I'm having a hard time believing it's 4k. I test rode the v4 and i just let it roll to a stop light and man, the tachometer was nearly at 0 and I felt no lugging. Reassess where you feel the lugging.

I found I can run it a little bit below 4K in lower gears, but it really prefers above 4K and is even happier above 5K. I am still doing the break-in too. Just did my fifth or sixth ride on the bike and it is really all around incredible.

I Ride: Ducati Panigale V4S
Not sure what you mean by lugging? I guess you mean riding at low rpm's?? This bike rides very well at low rpms. I find myself using the torque in most street situations down to 2000 rpm. She rides like a twin.
Last week at the VIR South course I was experimenting with one off-camber right hander. I would switch between a first gear entry and second gear entry. Given the fact that I am intentionally riding at about 75% my corner entry was always too slow. I would square off the corner making the first gear entry the best for the situation. A second gear entry would probably be better (loads the suspension with less pitch). This would require more corner speed and balls because it's an off-camber turn. Besides, I really don't want to crash a $30,000 dollar motorcycle
