MCN Long Term V4S Review

It looks like MCN are running a V4S as part of their long term test fleet. Here's the latest review:

I am replacing mine at roughly 4500 miles and about 4 track days. They still have tread, I'm just trying to get them swapped before the rainy season starts. The addition of the hard middle compound extends the life of the V3s by a lot.

You're doing bloody well, mine are nice & rounded but i think they'll only see 1500 miles at best, there are 940 miles on my bike/tyre at the minute & you'd understand if you seen it. Road use only & our roads have pretty much the same tar as in England to compare with the MCN video posted

I think the middle is a bit softer than the V2. My tires still look good but they sure seem to ball up with much less effort than the V2 on street roads.

Good review.

The more I ride this bike the more I love it. This is my first Ducati and I didnít go into it as a fanboy and I had plenty of good rides to compare against. Initially, I had a few complains, maybe still do, I had to get used to some things, adjust and tweak things to my likening, but I am beginning to understand it big time. Riding this thing on track is the epitomy of riding joy! I overdose on dopamine every time I do a track day.

All of the sudden you realize that you either forgive or stop noticing every shortcoming that it has for every day street riding. Having a second more street friendly bike certainly helps, But still.

Am I becoming a Ducati fanboy, damn it?
Thanks from Phl

I am waiting for them to iron out the niggles on launch edition before I buy.
In the meantime I enjoy reading all the opinions and reviews out there.

Thorny, what shortcomings on the road have you found ? Thx

Nothing major, but here they are in no particular order:

The good olí Panigale heat in 100F weather and traffic.
Grabby clutch (more on and off than progressive), this is not ideal in traffic.
Aggressive riding position (not more aggressive than any other serious sport bike) and peg height when set best for track.
I am not a fan of Ducati DP rearsets, awaiting better options still.
Somewhat stiff shift action for a non-Ducati owner.
Lots of engine brake.
Blur in the mirrors, some buzz from Desmo engine.
Seat is alright, but not as comfy as other bikes Iíve had.
Thanks from Veteran

I put a comfort seat on mine and lowered the engine braking.
