Looking at V4s

I don't ride every day, nor for long trips but the V4 was the most fun I've ever had on 2 wheels so I'm thinking of trading my XDS in on one. While I don't go far, sometimes I do ride in the rain or cold. I expect all the electronics of this bike make rain riding decent, but can anybody comment on what it's like with the stock tires?

The XDS does a pretty good job in the rain, or any condition for that matter, and I really like the bike but the foot forward position just doesn't sit well with my tailbone. I know these bikes are different and it's not the normal this vs that comparison. I'm 48, tried the Harley thing earlier this year, but it wasn't for me and went to the XDiavel as a performance cruiser and looking at a sportbike again. My wife bought me a Ducati Tshirt, so I told her I had to get the Panigale if I get a sportbike (yeah, she didn't buy it either).

Thanks, thatís kind of what Iím thinking.

Truthfully, and no disrespect, I donít get the Harley thing. It performed very poorly. The Xdiavel performs much better, probably better than the gsxr1100 I had in the 80ís, maybe better than my gsxr1000 from 02.

Iím a bit concerned about rain and fall riding on the stock tires and thinking about putting Rosso Corsaís on.

You'll be fine on stock tires. Just take it easy.

I Ride: 2016 Ducati Panigale 1299 S
Youíll likely not out ride the stock tires or Rossoís. So put the Rossoís on for the rain when you get caught.

That makes the most sense.
Still on the fence on trading the XDiavel in. It's a nice bike and I haven't had it that long, but test drive on the V4 was amazing.

There's also the insurance issue. My insurance company, State Farm, wants to triple my insurance over the XDS! Allstate has a much better quote, but then it means moving all my cars or house over.

Tires should be fine plus you can modify the settings on the bike any way you want so you could make the V4 a very docile ride if you want. Might check the insurance on the V4. Not cheap!

Looked at insurance at different places and given the overall rates with cars, house and bikes, State Farm is pretty competitive. It was a bit more money overall but not enough to make it worth changing. I wish they did boats well!

This bike costs more to insure than my boat worth 25 times as much! Oh well, as somebody wise once told me, "You want to play, you got to pay!"

I pulled the trigger a couple hours ago. I'll leave the stock tires for now.
Thanks from ddd269 and maxnne

Enjoy the new bike. It really is a fun and impressive sport bike. Ok, it's just incredible!
