LOL Robert that was epic. The point was obviously missed. Scotman623, the post was not meant to offend the fragile. The post was to point out the obvious which was the simple fact that Ducati chose to use a gimmick as sales tool on a 40K bike instead of putting some pieces on the bike that would have actually mattered, you know, the parts you upgraded as a series racer? Its not about picking on someone for liking something its about recognizing that paddle shifter's on a minivan and launch control on an SUV are a dumb idea and if you don't think they are then well maybe the winged wonder makes sense.

The race teams asked for the wings and the dry clutch and since race teams win by picking up tenths of a second here and there they make sense. Speaking of sales gimmicks you could argue nobody needs a counter rotating crankshaft or perhaps electronic aids like slide control since only motogp riders could notice the benefits.

A counter rotating crank can positively aid in the bikes maneuverability for riders of varying skill sets. I would definitely not put that in the same category of being able to skillfully back the bike into a turn power sliding the rear. So you solidified my point. Yes for 95% of Ducati owners who have EVO spec software the ability to do that is not in their wheelhouse so yes that to is a gimmick on a street bike. There are a handful of guys on this forum who can use the software package to its potential on a closed course. The rest of us (myself included) live vicariously through our bikes capabilities not our own and the test riders making look easy on the marketing videos. Gimmicks are fine as long as the fundamentals are addressed first and Ducati has a laundry list of “priorities” that maybe should have been addressed prior to an accessory that few buyers can use. Yea I know. It’s fun to brag about the awesomeness few have the ability to exploit.

....why shouldnít we go backwards....& ask Ducati for drum brakes, skinny rims with tires to match, low hp, heavier bikes, drop electronic ignitions & put points back in the ignition....

Now let’s cut through this nonsense and get back to more important subject matter that meshes well with a 200hp bike like comfort seats, heated grips and how to apply sponsor decals. Man I missed this place.

RD this is not the proper section to talk about your dream bike, one that you may actually be able to work on yourself and understand.

Dude, I completely left out “tank bags” what conversation about a 200hp super bike is complete without discussing “tank bags”
