Just a fun video I put together explaining the aeromechanics of winglets on the V4R.

I can explain it fairly simply. On a street bike or even a dedicated track bike with anything less than a pro rider under 180 mph, completely fricking worthless. Another “look at me” gimmick. Next time you take your winged laden machine for a trip down the street stop and remember all the times you made fun of the idiot driving a silly import with a wing on it. Just say no to the winglet and avoid the head shaking and ridicule that you will no doubt endure for riding a bike that now looks like a chicken hawk. If your going to ride a bike with ears on it on the street you might as well douche it up all the way and do all the sponsor stickers by companies that you are not sponsored by and the number of your favorite racer whom you have no affiliation with. Don’t ride a Ducati on the street with winglets and if you’re going to do it on the track, make sure your skill sets are enough to offset the hecklers.

The article states the wings start to work at speeds as low as 62 mph, its not like they only work at 180. What's up with everyone going straight to only pro riders can use them so why bother. Let people have their things

Exactly!

I knew it was a matter of progression of how the downforce works. It's simple logic. Most wings work that way! For bikes, cars, planes etc. And it's pretty simple physics, and guess what physics applies all over the place and for everybody.

In our case, winglet physics works for both street and track, pro or novice, wet or dry, man or woman etc. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a technically challenged person.

Don't get it what's with all the hate and bashing! Aside from looks which is truly subjective, winglet physics is not subjective. What is subjective though, is the utility gained from those added downforces but that is everyone's personal appreciation and should not be discarded, bashed or laughed upon. Doing so, only shows ignorance and infatuation!

If I had one, I’d add some neon lights to them to show them off a bit better. Perhaps even add dimples to them for better airflow. That or add razor blades to the leading edges to slice bugs and birds in half, mad max style yo.
Thanks from trooper3 and 998sp
