V4 base + Susp & rims VS V4S

What do you say guys

If money was not the problem, what would be the best performer

V4 BASE + Öhlins forks + Öhlins shock + forged rims

OR

V4S

what do you think?

If money was no problem, a GT3 RS with manual tranny.

I went with a base + Ohlins + BST carbon wheels and I've got zero regrets. Came in cheaper than the S and although I don't have the dynamic suspension, the Ohlins I have are a step up from the S model components. I got my wheels used so they were not new price. I'd hold off on the forged wheels since I'm pretty sure the weight difference is miniscule.

I would go with the Base model with the manual suspension and rims!!! Main reason is I like the adjustable aftermarket suspension better myself.. I Race so I might think different, No racers use Automatic suspension and it is illegal in most pro racing series..

If you’re not a “tinkerer” just buy the base and deal with the myriad of issues the bike will have. If you are a “tinkerer” buy a motor, swingarm and a frame and build it. You will get the exact bike you want and you won’t spend a bunch of time on ebay and the classifieds getting rid of all the take offs. The financials here are laughable. The bike is way overpriced for the quality of components you get in the first place comparatively and you have all these guys pouring more money in the things in aftermarket parts. Not building a bike that you’re going to change a lot of parts on is just not a very sound financial decision no matter what your income. Hey the V4 platform is awesome I’m building one now but I would never buy a complete bike from a dealer. Spending 60-70k on a correctly built V4 with the exact parts I want, no issue. 30-50k for a factory model built with low quality OEM components, and worked on by a recent MMI mechanic, pass. If you can’t build it yourself, find someone who can. There are guys on this board who build some pretty damn nice stuff. The S model is just more crap you don’t need and more crap to go wrong.

The only thing I'd be careful about with going the base model and adding the suspension and wheels, is resale value.
But if you're not concerned about that and you race your bike, then a base model would probably be the better option.

I've currently got the FGRT front fork tubes + 30mm cartridges (very similar setup to the new V4R) and a TTX rear (retrofitted). You can get even fancier but I'm very happy with this setup. I bought mine through a friend in Ontario that bought the pieces for a second track bike and then decided to order the V4R when it was announced. I believe he sourced the parts through Ducati Omaha. I'll double check with him. Either way, super easy to adjust and night and day compared to the factory config.

The different sized tubes did make installation a bit trickier, so if you're looking for painless, you can do pretty well with a cartridge kit for the BPF. Or you can go all out and get the FGR forks. I've seen those on a track V4 and they look pretty amazing. No idea on the price or performance for that setup though. Probably astronomical
