V4 Speciale best pricing

I went and looked at the Speciale last night. I love the color scheme. For the same price I can get the R. So i must ask, what has everyones experience been with pricing for the Speciale? Are the dealers moving off the MSRP of these bikes or are they holding firm?

IF they are holding firm and not budging, i would rather put a deposit on the R and get that. But if people are tending to get pretty good deals, i would pull the trigger on the Speciale. TIA

I think you can always get a dealer to move off of MSRP depending on relationship and how often you purchase. That being said you might also go for them installing the exhaust or other items as part of the deal.

If you are mainly riding on the street the Special is probably a better bike. The R will not be as street friendly and if you add an exhaust you are looking at another $5K minimum.

I see a lot of the Speciale for sale online state side. And just saw one with 8 miles sell for $35995 (that was asking so it may have went less). as for the dealer installing the good bits, yes, they will do that at no charge, savings of $1080.

So i wanted to see what people got on their deals, i have it reserved now and typically hate to take the hit on depreciation. I do not buy many bikes from one dealer, i have no loyalty. It comes down to dollars to me. Some dealers want / need to move bikes and will, some will not.

I concur the R will not be as nice on the street as the Speciale, I am sure i will track either bike with no questions asked, but they will spend time on the street as well. The akra exhaust, i can get new for 3300 (install is on me). So yeah, its still more, but its not a bolts and paint the Speciale is...

Regardless, its nice to have a bike you may not see coming from the other direction much (if ever).

Sounds like you have done your home work. I did not pay MSRP for mine but I have known my local dealer for years so that helped.

If you are looking for something like you mentioned not seeing I would wait for the R.

I can transfer the deposit to the R, and will be the 4th in my area (dealer has an allotment of 8). SO its tempting. but if i can get the Speciale for a good deal, i would rather get the deal. if it was the exact MSRP, i would surely stick with the R and not question it.

I think with the R coming out next month for delivery, the Speciale have taken a hit on being sold.

I agree if it was me I would hit them at out the door for the MSRP number. I am not sure how Florida handles everything (that would include tax & title for California).

Got quoted 38k OTD with Akra installed for a 0 mile 2019 Speciale...

Also got quoted 39k OTD for a V4R...

I think this is a no brainer

Well I will say, you should be able to find a great deal on a used Speciale. My Speciale only had 700 miles when I sold it . I took a $20,000 (purchase price: $51,000 including taxes, prep, Akro install, and protection gear for the bike) loss on the sale, and was happy to get rid of it... So try looking for a used Speciale...

But why?
Why?
Such a beautiful bike
Such a big loss
I really don't get it
I never sell a bike
Still have my first ZXR400
I will never understand this...
Why?

Maybe because the bike isn't as good as you (or others) think it is. I got rid of my V4S. It has a slew of issues, especially if you actually ride it (I had it for about 3 months and in that time I was at the dealer every week for something). There's a reason there's a thread about the clutches. The clutch is a joke. Had everything but the hose replaced on mine [which they are now replacing as well in hopes of a fix] (slave cylinder, master cylinder) and it still got air in to the point it would not be able to engage at a stop light without inching me forward after only 200-250 miles.

If you're a typical Ducati rider and resell your bikes with 1500-2000 miles on it after 3-5 years, then you probably wont run into as many issues as I did. I had lot of weird shit start happening after 4500 miles (bike would not run well, dealers could not pinpoint it, it was actually dangerous to ride at times because of the malfunctions).
Thanks from lamb00j and SuperDuc29
