Bike has lost Engine Breaking!!

Hi Everyone
Got a very weird situation. So 1 week ago i dropped off the bike to get the latest recalls done, such as the clutch, new exhaust manifold and repositioning of the rear speed sensor cable. On top of that i also had my quick shifter replaced after the last one failed.

I took it out for a ride yesterday and realised that it didnt feel the same. After trying to find what was so different i finally found what was happening and this is where it gets strange.
It only happens in 1st gear but it has lost pretty much all of its engine breaking, all the other gears are fine and decelerates as normal and feels normal. in 1st gear once off the throttle it coasts and very slowly, slows down. I was going down a small hill and in 2nd gear it was decelerating and engine breaking was fine, dropped into 1st gear as i was coming to a stop and it started to speed up as there is no engine breaking.
it sometimes also holds it revs like its on cruise control which i was lucky enough to capture on video to show the dealer. This all happens in first gear. After owning the bike for almost a year it is definitely not the same since i picked it up from the dealership after its recalls.

Please any help would be appreciated, or if someone has experienced this before. Have tried changing the EBC around, turning the quickshifter on and off and changing riding modes and it does nothing. Thinking it might be the new quick shifter?
have it booked in again to be looked at

sorry for the rant. Thank you in advance

my first 1098 I purchased did not do this but it stalled consistently . the next one I purchased did what you are describing after the first service.
the bike ran perfect didn't stall but it did some strange auto-rev thing exactly like you're describing
I assumed it had to do with the way the mechanic adjusted the trim tabs.
there was a counterintuitive way to adjust them IIRC .
or I thought maybe Ducati had come up with a stall fix for the bike which was a flash to the ecu.

either way I could tell the bike was doing something not natural, but since this bike didn't stall I learned to live with it.

not sure this helps any

Thanks, for posting up this problem. I'm having all my recalls done this week. I read that you did try adjusting the EBC. I'm reviewing the owners manual, here is a fault from the manual. Did you notice this condition?
-"If EBC is active, but system is in degraded operation, "EBC" message and the number "1" to "3" (flashing)
-When in fault, the "EBC" indication and the red "Err" message.

I'll take mine for a test ride from the shop to see if I notice the same problem in first gear. Did the dealer do any software installs?

Ahhh ok thank you for that. Was that just in first gear as well? or all gears? i really hope they find my issue. To be honest it really ruined my ride the other day knowing that there was something wrong with the bike. Ill keep this thread updated with the result

Thank you very much for looking that up. I just re read that in the manual just then. Ill have a look when i ride next. Im sure yours will be fine but keep me updated with how it goes. I noticed that it becomes more apparent when the bike is hot.
I think the dealer might have done an update not sure. I will call them again and to confirm what was done
Thanks from carlpretzel

It was a long time ago , but as I recall you'd only feel it in first gear . I think if it was noticeable in 3rd or 4th gear you'd blow through turns. similar feeling to hitting a false neutral in 4th gear in a turn.
Again I always theorized that this was somehow a fix to the stalling issue the 1x98 series bikes had. I have not had anything like this with the panigale L2 I own now. and obviously this may not at all be related.

hopefully you are able to get some satisfaction with an easy fix from the dealership .

Yea mine is just first gear and that's it. It just coasts as you let off the gas instead of slowing down. I don't feel the force of the engine breaking at all in 1st gear but all the rest are fine.
My question is what could they have done to it to make it behave like this. I've had the bike for nearly a year and it's been fine apart from recalls and getting the quick shifter replaced. I just hope they find something and it's an easy fix. I have video footage of it happening so hopefully that helps

I've just had all those recalls done and got the bike back yesterday (finally, after 2.5m). Haven't noticed what you have but unless I'm not remembering right the clutch seems different--harder to avoid the low-rev stalls the bike is somewhat prone to. The sweet-spot for the clutch seems smaller and lots of revs are necessary.

Anybody notice that?
