I Ride: Some pretty amazing Ducatis
I was all ready to buy one but after seeing some of the early pics and specs, I'm a little disappointed. I might get over it but I suspect I won't. Ducati could have done so much more with this.

yea potential is there to do a very cool little bike perhaps the R engine, mag wheels a few other bits and with the 888 SP paint job you are onto a winner.

I agree, honestly I thought it they made it a V4R, mag wheels and all the other pieces that the R didn't come with they would have been onto something.
Thanks from Sherpa23 and Moondognyc

I guess I'm in the minority. 100% my personal opinion.. The problem with the R bikes is they're meant to be track bikes. They're high strung, made of "higher maintenance" parts, and just aren't as streetable as an R. My 749R will burn it's own carbon fairings off that cost $4500 a side thanks to the "factory" Termi exhaust. My Panigale R has enough blow by to cause an oil slick. Two piston rings and high lift valves are just not meant to be "used" and put away wet. I'm after a bike that's more special than a standard V4 or an S but that I can still use without the R maintenance.
Thanks from jpanigale

Well it's definitely an S. From the picture I am assuming it is just a paint job, black frame, etched top yoke and a different seat pad. Seems you get less and less for the extra dosh they are bound to demand for this "special". I think it also sports some rizoma clutch and brake levers, bar ends and fuel cap and possibly some different rearsets with carbon heelguards. Wheels appear to be either gold Marchesinis or V4S/V4R wheels painted gold. Front and rear hugger still look like plastic however. That's about it. Pretty disappointing given how much they are likely to charge for it and seems odd to celebrate an iconic V2 as a V4. IMHO they would have been better off flogging a Hayden Replica V4.

Thanks from Phl, Sherpa23 and AndreiD
