UK V4 / Ducati Ownership

Might be moving from Texas back to UK for work.

Have really gotten used to the easy life here.

Am wondering what is Ducati ownership like in UK.

Is the cost of bike insurance prohibitive?

Are there any issues with noise / polluition levels etc. Thinking aftermarket exhausts an fuel maps specifically?

Any tips appreciated because no bikelife means no move.

Other than 5 months out of the year when the weather freezes your ass off (& stops me riding) things are good.
Iím in Derbyshire, plenty of brilliant roads but also plenty of police speed traps in the summer months.
Insurance not too bad as Iím 50 years old, itís similar to the Ninja H2 I had before the V4s
I have Akra slip ons, unsure how this will affect me come MOT time in three years but the dealer seems to be unconcerned.
Up-map feels perfect with our fuel.
So in summary weather and police are the things that annoy.... Perhaps stay in Texas!!

You might be right!

...... I just did an online quote with MCN for laughs, 43 years, International bike license, zero no claim bonus, Comprehensive 8200 pounds. Was hoping might get a ball park figure but that’s mental!

Exhaust's another question wondering should I fit the Termignoni? I once imported a GSXR 600 to the UK, completely stock, inspection guy didn't believe it was a stock exhaust even when another dude rolled in on a UK bike with the same thing.

MCN is a waste of time, try an H2 through them and youíll really laugh!
I used Ducati insurance for mine (the same as Kawasaki insurance for the H2) its via a broker called Adrian Flux. They ďofficiallyĒ partner with many manufacturers, they will give a sensible quotation.

Ask for quotes with and without exhaust

Pretty much covered in all above.

I wouldn't worry too much about a race exhaust as long as you are sympathetic in towns and villages, you'll be left alone.

With insurance comparison websites it's always best to try them all.

Initially I wanted a 1299S 18 months or so ago and was getting quotes around the £600 mark. Imagine my horror when Go Compare only came back with 3 quotes on the V4 ranging from £8000 to £2500!!!! WTF?!!

MCN Compare was best for me and she's insured for under £600

Not having any no claims history will hurt you unfortunately.
