Winter Storage, trickle charger?

Hi, I'm new here and this is my first year with a Ducati. We do have decent weather here and can get out once in a while year 'round but I do not plan to do that with my new V4...although it would keep me warm ha ha. I just found the pigtail under the seat and knew Ducati would have a specific charger. Is everyone using part 69924601A or is there a workaround for this $65 plus trickle charger...go ahead... I just have so many others in the garage that I hoped I would be able to use.

BatteryTender

As long as you have a Lithium model charger youíll be fine - this one from Deltran is dual purpose, which handles Lithium & Lead Acid

Thanks but it's the pigtail adapter that's the problem, it doesn't fit my battery tenders that I have at home.

I use a Noco charger, you can buy a SAE adapter for the charger for $10-15.

Works like a charm

Question wireless charger?

Does any one recommend a wireless charger? My bike is parked in the basement of my building and no electric outlet close by.

Pretty sure that you canít push 1.5+ Amps through the air in anything commercial.
Thanks from Drax

I have seen a setup done with a large battery for a power source rather than an electric outlet online while shopping, but I don't recall where. I skipped past it as it didn't apply to me. I'm sure you didn't mean completely wireless.

I've always used the real deal plugged in to a power source over the winter months, even when I ride my bikes intermittently. Keep the babies warm.

Thanks for all the input guys, I appreciate it!

I simply purchased the Ducati brand. Now I have yet another, but it's specific.

I use this one.

I connect it directly to the V4 LIon battery via a permanent INDICATOR extension cable.
I fed this INDICATOR connector out of the battery compartment via the standard cable loom and hide it for direct access to the right side of the headstock underneath that same OEM cable loom.

This way I can easily check the battery condition even when sitting on the bike via the LED Indicator and quickly connect it to this charger.

Problem with the Ducati version is that you can't do both: there is no battery health indication provided and you can't quickly access this pigtail connector under the seat w.o. removing seat first. Tedious task if you ask me?

@sportrider3000:
When no wall-outlet, you could consider a setup with big 55-70 AMP/hour lead based car battery connected to a 12V(DC) to 110V/230V(AC) converter (e.g. HQ-PURE300W as we use). Here you can then plugin your LIon charger.
Since the car battery holds about 3 times the power of the V4 LIon, you only once every few months need to charge the car battery with the same charger. If your charger is also suitable for both lead and LIon, that is.

Didn’t want to hijack, but Is it better to remove a LIon battery from the bike during the winter months? The garage is not heated. I was thinking of leaving the batterie connected in the bike with the LIon charger connected.
