Suomy or Shoei

Hello,

I'm in the market for a new helmet, and I am torn between the Suomy SR Sport Dovi Replica and the Shoei RF-1200.

I love the graphic on the Suomy, but has anyone had any experience with this helmet before? There are tons of reviews for the Shoei, but very little for the Suomy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Both appear to be awesome. I use Suomy SR Sport and an old Spec1R Extreme for past 3 years. I like both of those as they are lightweight, easy to use with glasses and with the no longer available Ultratech face shield which is good day or night, rain or shine. It's noisy but no more than Arai Corsair, so plugs are important, but be sure can still hear stuff around you. I'd go for the Corsair X before considering Shoei. These are my personal preferences, YMMV. Ride Safe!

I've ridden with a Suomy the past five years or so and would comment that you will not be disappointed with the choice. It is a great helmet. The fit and finish is good and other than AGV, the graphics are the best on the market.

Good luck with your decision.

Best to try them on and see what feels best.
I walked into the store ready to buy the Suomy but ended up with an Arai due to it being much more comfortable.

But it's all about the fitment and the shell sizes and how you feel in them. Best to try them on first!

It’s horses for courses in my eyes. We are all different. As long as it fits, is comfortable and is a genuine recognised brand (Too many fakes out there) they are all much of a muchness. My advice is Try it on. Go with which ever one feels right. Don’t be pursuaded by graphics over fit and feel.
I’m an Arai man. Mainly because it fits my swede. Other brands whilst do fit they don’t fit as well. I have been told your either an Arai or Shoei head. I fit both! However the cutouts for glasses in the Arai means it wins. I ironically crashed in my RX7 Crutchlow rep this year, 30 mph low side at rockingham. I went down fast and hard. It rung my bell a bit but no bad side effects. Got up swearing. I just bought the Nicky Hayden WSBK RX7V. I won’t be changing brands. Arias fit me, (5 star dealers will custom fit them) they are comfortable, and they work.

I’m hoping the Hayden rep gives me super rear tyre smoking throttle control powers!

Undoubtedly so. I bought a Marquez rep for my girl and she saves slides on her elbow all the time now.

Arai for me, but like everyone says, try them and see which one fits best.
Thanks from Southwest
