I did a 1-piece dainese custom about 8 years ago. I did the same as you, mostly mountain riding and a few trackdays. I had to go with a custom because the stock sizes weren't as disproportionate as my body haha. So in that respect, a 2 piece would make sense. But I was only focused on a 1-piece. With that being said, i dont see how a 2 piece would be more convenient unless you're spending more time not riding and hanging around /talking than actually riding. Plus it just never looks right on a track and some organizations don't allow 2-piece I believe.

I have a custom D-Air Roo suit and love it but I would recommend looking at the Alpinstar GP Tech suit if the off the rack suit sizing fits you. Here’s are my reasons why.

1) A-star race tech vest has 2 deployments vs D-air’s 1. You can still be protected all race weekend if you only have one off.
2) A-star recharge cost is $300 vs D-airs $200. So A-stars is cheaper per air bag deployment.
3) A-stars vest can be sent in for recharge and you can still use your suit. If it wasn’t destroyed by 2 crashes.
4) A-stars top of the line Roo suit and race tech vest is over $1000 less than a D-air Roo suit. Just did a quick search on price so I may be off but I’m sure it’s still cheaper.

I’m gonna go try one on this weekend since I’m still waiting to get my suit back from Dainese. They’ve had it since January...

Thanks everyone! Sounds like 1-piece is the way to go. I'll order one and may eventually get the jacket that I can swap the bags into. Its good to hear A* quality is on par with Dianese, I was leaning towards A* since I always had their stuff in the dirt and it was top notch. I'll definitely look in to the kangaroo ones, though it may be a bit out of my budget at the moment. Are they really that much better? If they are I may wait a few more weeks and work some extra overtime to budget for it. Thanks again!

With Kangaroo it is about the weight. Much lighter and easier to move in. IMHO.
