Problem with Competition Werkes Integrated Tail Light‏

Hello,
I purchased and installed the Competition Werkes Integrated Tail Light last week on my brand new Ducati 1199 Panigale. Last night I turn off the bike and as you can see on the picture, one of the LED was remaining on.

Is it a known problem?

Answer from Competition Werkes:
"This is a Parking/Security light. Much like the flashing light on the dash of most Ducati's.
It will go out after about a half hour. It runs off a capacitor and does NOT drain your battery at all."

Sound strange to me!
-> Why just on one side?
-> Did we have some kind of Parking/Security light on the OEM ??? I don'd recall that!

anyone?

I wrote about this a while back, and my adventures with their customer service. And what one of their distributors told me.

In a nutshell they say they intentionally leave that LED on, which is capacitor driven, as a "safety" and "parking" feature. When I call them to ask the first guy got literally agitated with my questions about why it was on there. The second guy tried his best to explain it away as a safety roadside feature, then as a parking anti theft feature. When I pointed out that both were silly and useless he tried explaining a bit more than kinda said there was nothing he could do, it was from the manufacturer of the board.

A distributor of their product was more frank with me and said that it was plain stupid and people get really mad when they get it completely assembled and find out about it (And usually panic and disconnect their battery wire). He said they believe it was part of a shitty design to discharge a capacitor they used in the unit, and they basically came up with a problem to suit an answer, not the other way around...

Regardless, I sure wont have it on my bike. Who wants to turn off their bike and a red LED attract attention to it for 20-30 minutes while the cap discharges, OR have to listen to "sir you left your lights on"....

Wow! Exactly as I suspected... It's a fault in the design!

Can anyone else confirm that they have the same issue with their Competition Werkes Integrated Tail Light‏?

My bike is in shipment right now I can't check, but I have the red tail light/ integrated with the turn signals and I don't remember it ever doing that.

When I get it out of shipment I will check.

I have seen this issue mentioned a few times. I will gladly buy one of their lights AFTER they solve this issue.

I can confirm mine has the same issue or as they say...that's how its supposed to work. Seems like a design oversight maybe with the way its built. Acts like capacitance build up and then it bleeds off over a few hours. No harm but not what I would call a perfect design.

I have the clear lens and I have the same red light on when stopped.

I got the red but did not install it yet due to a fractured hand.. i dont think this would bother me tho.. i'll call it a parking light :P
