in the end all was well. the used ecu was able to be programmed and got going with the purchase of a new lock set

Don't even need a new lock set. Existing one can be sent to redline and they can cut new keys off of it.

Without a doubt call Dave at Redline Performance Motorsports and you'll be happy to see its no where near that expensive for new keys! Even if you need your dash reprogrammed as well if you have NO keys left to cut the new ones off!

Key is not paired to the ecu, you "just" need key, end matching elock, witch is the black unit around the ignition key.
