The stalling problem: is the charcoal canister really the culprit?

My stalling-at-idle problems are almost infrequent enough that I don't care, but frequent enough that I do. If that makes any sense.

For those who've had the dealer remove the canister (or who have done it themselves) ... does it really solve the problem?

Mine stalled 3 times before the first service hadn't had a problem since. 8K miles now and going strong. Recently removed the charcoal canister to fix hard starts when the bike is hot they also reset the TPS and now it fire right up.

Removed my charcoal canister. Seemed to clean up the stalling and hot start issues. I haven't had any issues with stalling or hot starting since I removed it.

"The Fix" appears to apply to all US models with the canister.

Turns it into a 49 state bike. Proceed with caution if located in CA and keep it handy if you wish to sell it in state.

I just removed mine, but not had chance to try it yet...I was having the occasional hot start problems, much to the amusement of my jap bike riding buddies, But why keep it on anyways? Its just a piece of useless emissions junk that has no place on a race/sport bike anyways other than to keep the emissions people happy..just keep it handy in case some nutter you sell the bike too in the future wants to put it back on..

For over two years I wouldn't believe it. Kept the cannister on and had the hardest starting issues and even burned up a starter. Two months ago I caved and took it off. Since...not a single issue with starting. You tell me what fixed it....

Yea, had my 600 mile service yesterday, and once hot the bike would barely stay running. I am gonna try an pull it off this weekend. Worked great on the 848 as well.
