Hereís my .02....

1) Donít use tire warmers to provide a false sense of confidence that you can hammer the throttle out of the gate and all will be ok. You can crash on a cool day when air and track temps are low. It can pull the heat out of the tire and still contribute to a crash even after a full lap. I know from experience.
2) From what Iíve heard and read I wouldnít be concerned with heat cycles. You will run out of rubber before heat cycles ever become an issue.
3) I do agree that warmers do their job to soak the tire and wheel to help you get accurate tire pressures set before you go out and it does give you some confidence and improved grip out of the gate and like others said, a must when racing.
4) Also you need to consider what your trying to accomplish and what your current pace is. The stock Panigale Supercorsaís provide tons of grip with no need to use warmers. Warmers can be a hassle and extra work at times. Iíve used them instead of slicks at times on cold days and during a 2 day class cause I wanted to focus on the class and not mess with warmers in between sessions.
5) I do believe as you get quicker slicks will last longer with their design than a stock DOT tire.
6)Dunlop does NOT recommend leaving warmers on all day. I believe their literature says not to leave them in the warmers for more than 2 hours.
7) I have digital warmers but you could easily just get a single temp and be fine and less to mess with.

Hopefully this helps...

Wasn't meant for you old mate, I was responding to fens.

"No I havenít used tyre warmers because they were a luxury I could not afford, however I did race in the Australian Superbikes Series at the highest possible level for a few years,so I do know a a bit about getting tyres to grip, I think my point is ,whatís the hurry to go so quick on a practice/ride day?Fuck me ,tossers I say, stop fucking around and ride the fucking thing!!going quick on cold tyres is part of the art of racing and tyre warmers are no substitute for a few laps to make em work."

Suppose he'll hunt me down at Eastern Creek to make sure I'm not fucking around and wanking myself off in the toilets before a session it's so difficult to squeeze that nervous piss out with a horn.

One other point I forgot that was mentioned by @reganc

8) With slicks and even with warmers you need to keep your pace up to keep the heat in them. Theyíre not for cruising around and do not come up to temp and hold temp like DOT street tires.

So you raced in ASBK and are asking on the forum about tire warmers ??? ASBK round you would use 3 sets of tires a round and cant afford warmers ? Who is wanking ? Piss off !

Fuck off cockhead and get your hand off your small penis, its knobs like you that spend more time looking at your bike than riding the fucken thing,in the early 90s tyre warmers were only for the very fast factory riders that i had the privilege of sharing the track with , Troy Corser, Daryl Beattie, Mick and Scott Doohan, Gary Mcoy, Anthony Gobhert , to name a few,(back then you were probably still shitting yellow) privateers could not afford such luxuries, you need to stop thinking about why you are so fucken slow and grow some balls, or if you really want to man up go and test your skills in a race and be prepared to eat some humble pie. Oh and i did not ask about tyre warmers, i merely made the comment"why do you need to go fast on the first lap on a track day"makes no sense to me ,and i made do with two sets of tyres over the weekend.
Thanks from GoShow95

It's getting a bit heated, I think I might grab a beer and go into the garage and stare at the bikes. I'm only in the medium fast group because I don't want to be in the way of the fast guys and I'm not playing for cattle stations on my ride days, been around a while but too old and takes so long to heal now days even ribs are now an involved process.

I don't pretend to be super fast now and actually let it be known I never was, If people are happy with warmers let em do it the less time sitting in the fucking heat because some nob has crashed on the first lap and needs Medics the better.
