I Ride: 2015 Panigale R , RD400c , RGV250 ,KTM300,i also own a Harley and a boat , the Harley is the anchor.
Quite the achiever Calderara apparently,IMO and its been a while, slicks didn't take any noticeable difference in time to heat up over a cut production tyres,i never had issues with cold tear although i did see it,it was generally associated with the wrong tyre pressure and the word heat cycles was only used in the Boilermaker shop where i did my apprenticeship , seems to be a BUZZ word these days ,one lap of Oran Park and they were good to go,i have obviously hit a nerve with a few of the forum reader and maybe i shouldn't have called them wankers but ,REALLY, tyre warmers on a track day? fuck me ,next they will be putting them on to go down the corner shop for bread and milk.
Thanks from GoShow95

You do have some good points on the subject but maybe it’s just your delivery...

Ouch As I am the least qualified of all to leave comments that's a Robert Whitaker liver shot V4 base with targeted mods (added rider feel/confidence) should be win imo however am respectful of your opinion to understand symbiotics
All advice respected and appreciated cheers ride safe

So tire warmers. After many years of riding and racing. From my days as an AMA and WERA rider in the 80 and 90s to my days of riding mostly track days in either advanced or expert depending on the club. I have come to this conclusion.

With DOT tires you by all means can enjoy some low to mid club level racing and track day events with out tire warmers.

However slicks on the other hand. TIRE WARMERS!!! Hell slicks can smack you in the ass if you come off the gas for a few laps and allow them to cool down.

It really comes down to the economics of it. Is having a flashy seat cover worth more to you than a nice set of single temp tire warmers or not.

For me I use the Chicken Hawk digital dual temp pro line warmers. And I leave my warmers on all day. Not powered up the whole day mind you but I do leave them on the bike all day.

Sorry Fens, I guess we have all had our day in the sun, both of us were a bit antagonistic with our posts.
Back to warmers, I'd say 90% of guys would be using at ride days . Just another tool available I guess.

I raced professional Six Day races so Madison was my favorite (points race, too) but I did manage to win the national road race title when they were dumb enough to put in on a rolling course without the high mountains. I do have a couple of TP medals, though.

The first time I brought tire warmers to a track day, there was a number of comments to me or behind back from some of the racers regarding use of warmers for track day riders.

When my lap times came back faster then some of these racers and my grading for when i when full race skipping both assessment & clubman class and going straight to SBK,
the "all the gear. no idea" talk quickly stopped and we got back to riding/racing and having fun like this is meant to be.

Some people wear custom Kangaroo D-Air suits to the cafe, others wear jeans to a track day........
End of day do what ever makes you warm and fuzzy.
